Performance & Off-Road Capability
The 2026 4Runner debuts Toyota's TNGA-F body-on-frame platform paired with the 2.4-liter i-FORCE turbocharged four-cylinder producing 278 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. Select trims — TRD Pro and Trailhunter — add the i-FORCE MAX hybrid system for 326 combined horsepower and even more low-end torque for technical off-road situations.
Four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case is standard across the lineup. A Multi-Terrain Select system, Crawl Control, and KDSS (Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System) on higher trims make the 4Runner one of the most capable off-road SUVs available without modifications — a draw for Indiana hunters, campers, and overlanders.
* Towing capacity varies by trim and configuration. Hybrid HP reflects combined system output.
