Above and Beyond Standard Safety Features.

In 2018, the Toyota Tacoma was the best-selling mid-size truck in the nation and was the fifth best-selling truck overall. According to J.D. Power, 245,659 units were sold that year. Why does that matter? It matters because we appreciate that so many people trust in our brand. Because of that trust, we work harder every year to deliver the best products we can. Because of that, we present you with the 2019 Toyota Tacoma.

Toyota vehicles maintain their value. This may be a commonly known fact, but when you look at the numbers, it is truly astounding. MotorTrend, with help from IntelliChoice, wrote a report on the mid-size truck that retains its value the best. Unsurprisingly, that was the Toyota Tacoma. They wrote, “It retains an impressive 65.85 percent of its value after five years, compared to 59.90 percent for the second-place finisher, the Honda Ridgeline.”

Kelley Blue Book also says that the Toyota Tacoma retains an incredible amount of its value. “The Tacoma has earned a trophy every single year dating back to our first set of Best Resale Value Awards, and for 2019, this midsize truck returns as the overall Best Resale Value Award winner for the fifth year in a row.” KBB reports that the 2019 Toyota Tacoma projects to retain 69.4% of its value after three years and 62.2% of its value after five. Comparatively, the 2019 Honda Ridgeline comes in seventh on the resale list for all vehicles at 63.2% after three years and 51.3% after five years. The 2019 Chevy Colorado was 8th at 59% after three years and 50.9% after five years. That means that the Tacoma retains more value after five years than the Colorado does after three.

When the time comes to sell your Tacoma, you know that you will get a fair price. These trucks are sturdy, tough, and resilient. Even when you take them off-road, they hold up better than the rest. In fact, it is off-road where the 2019 Tacoma really shines. In their review, Edmunds.com says about the Tacoma, “All versions do well, but the TRD Off-Road and the TRD Pro have the suspension, tires and abundant clearance to go places other pickups cannot.”

The 2019 model has a higher minimum clearance than its competitors to allow for a better off-road experience. The 2019 Chevy Colorado has a minimum clearance of 7.9 inches, and the 2019 Honda Ridgeline’s minimum clearance is 8.1 inches. The 2019 Toyota Tacoma, on the other hand, has a minimum clearance of 9.4 inches. As Car and Driver says in its review, “The Tacoma is at its best when it's outfitted to take the really dirty, really beaten path.”

When you’re driving off-road, you may want to haul a fallen tree or debris in your truck bed. Luckily, the 2019 Toyota Tacoma has you covered. On its lowest carrying trim, the Tacoma can still carry up to 1505 lbs. On its strongest trim, it can carry up to 1620 lbs. The 2019 Honda Ridgeline had a high of 1580 lbs and a low of 1465 lbs. The 2019 Chevy Colorado sat at a high of 1557 lbs and a low of 1440 lbs. If you would like, you can compare the trucks further on the main Toyota website (link below).

Now, it’s important to know, whether you are off-roading or driving to work, that your vehicle is safe and protected. Luckily, the 2019 Toyota Tacoma is designed for safety as well as adventure. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) rated the 2019 Tacoma as having “Superior” front crash prevention. The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) recommends four safety technologies to come standard on all vehicles. These are Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Crash Imminent Braking, and Dynamic Brake Support. All four come standard on the 2019 Toyota Tacoma. However, the 2019 Honda Ridgeline and the 2019 Chevy Colorado only have the first two as options and the last two are not offered at all.

The 2019 Toyota Tacoma also comes standard with Tailgate Assist. This handy little piece of technology helps avoid accidents when lowering the tailgate. Instead of slamming straight down if dropped, the tailgate will lower at a slow rate. Although this feature may seem minor, it can save you from unforeseen hospital bills. Other trucks in this class do not come with this feature standard. The 2019 Chevy Colorado does offer Tailgate Assist, but it costs extra. The 2019 Honda Ridgeline doesn’t offer it at all.

Another standard feature on the 2019 Toyota Tacoma is a driver alert monitor. This monitor can sense if the driver is nodding off or simply inattentive and lets out a warning beep. Every year, drivers fall asleep at the wheel and end up in automobile accidents. Toyota wants to do its part in preventing these crashes. While we offer this technology standard across all trims, Chevrolet and Honda do not have an option for this technology at any level.

The 2019 Toyota Tacoma is what you want it to be. There’s a reason it was the best-selling mid-size truck of 2018. The Tacoma retains value better than any other vehicle. It has incredible off-road capabilities. Its payload outpaces its peers. It has safety features that go above and beyond what anyone else is even close to. This is the type of vehicle that will last you a long, long time. So, if you’re interested in a vehicle that you won’t have to worry about, come on in to Evans Toyota.
